I made this in a black poly woven fabric from Joann's. I made view D with the gores and the ruffle. It's easier to see the structure of the pattern in the line drawing.
I tried it on and it was so tight I could not get it over my hips. I scratched
my head until I realized I had forgotten to sew in two panels. Still, even when all the panels were sewn in, alas, it was still too tight. It fits (kinda), but it accentuates things
that don't need accentuating. The pattern is designed for knits and it has a fold-over elastic waistband. I used a woven and a zipper and separate waistband. I also put a black knit lining in. There are a lot of points at which I could have screwed up the sizing. I serged the seams, so maybe I didn't account for that fact properly when I chose the size. Maybe I didn't account enough for the fact that I made it with a woven. Maybe I put on too much weight. Ha ha ha. It was too tight already the day I finished it.
I am going to make this again. There is something about the drafting that makes a very nice looking skirt.

But I wanted a black skirt and the next time I made one, I decided to go for New
Look 6901 because I was lazy. It's just two panels and the ruffle and I thought
how much difference could the panels make?

It just is not the same skirt. It's okay. I made it in a very nice wool jersey I got from Gorgeous Fabrics. I don't think this pattern was the best application for that fabric. There are a couple disasters associated with this skirt. One is that I sewed a lining in and sewed it and the jersey as one, but the jersey got a little shifted at the ruffle so the panel does not lay as nice as it ought to. It seems to fall like a curtain that hits the floor with inches to spare and falls to the side in waves. The ruffle is starting to curl up as well. I hemmed it with a rolled hem on my serger. It looked nice at first but has slowly begun its impudent revolt. Finally, the jersey picks up lint and dog hair and whatever that is on the front shot--dirt? flour? Oh well. I still wear it to work because it is warm and it for a time was my only black skirt. I cover the waist with a sweater. My, my, my. My swayback is quite apparent.
