Tucson: Day 9

2/19/2026

We're in a spiral of ever-slowing activity and changing expectations for this vacation.

Yesterday, Scott read all day in various spots. It was rather chilly. It got up to maybe 65, but it was windy, and clouds would continually block the sun throughout the day. I worked on orchestra business until about 4:30. Then I practiced. Here's the only picture I have from the day, a scary slice of me practicing. (I'm recording for my teacher.)

I made dinner, we played cards, and then we lay down to play NYT games and watch a Would I Lie to You? But we only got a third in when Scott's back went nuts. He was in bad pain and couldn't get out of bed for a long time.

Eventually, he did it. He'd already set up his sleeping arrangement for the night: an Adirondack chair brought inside the camper, with pillows on the back and his exercise mat elevating the front legs of the chair. It took a long time for him to get comfortable and for his back to stop spasming.

And that was the day.
