Phoenix/Mesa: Day 1

We checked into the KOA a little before noon. The KOA is pretty tightly packed, but it's nice for Phoenix with gravel and some trees. The Superstition Mountains line the horizon. That's a big perk.

Our site has a tree! It's close to the pool, hot tub, and showers, so we're happy. Scott has it set up very nicely.

After setting up the camper and the site, we took MUCH NEEDED showers. Scott exercised, I scrolled Facebook—a mistake, as always—and then we had a nice dinner.

Later that evening, Scott made a fire. Then we turned in and it didn't take us long to fall asleep.

PSA: There will be no hiking from me this trip, and no real tennis. I got foot surgery and timed it really wrong. I thought I'd be out of the boot and onto the court in 5 weeks. I learned surgery day it's three months. It's not just that I have to walk in the boot; I'm not allowed to put weight on the ball of the foot. It's not easy walking on just your heel, let me tell you.  I keep thinking I'll be able to hike somewhere, and Scott said he'd help me do some drills on a court. But when I start walking a distance, it is tiring,  We'll see.
